Glass filters, sand filters and multi-layer filters for water treatment
Multi-layer filter, gravel filter, sand filter

ALMA FIL

The ALMA FIL is a filtration technology system for reducing undissolved substances (suspended solids, colloidal substances). The filter material (e.g. quartz sand, hydroanthracite) is selected according to the composition of the wastewater and the specific task.

Compact Sand and Multilayer Filtration for Water and Wastewater

The ALMA FIL reduces undissolved substances such as suspended solids, fine particles, and colloidal contaminants in industrial water and wastewater streams. The filter media is selected to match the water composition and the treatment objective. This allows the system to be used as a gravel filter, sand filter, or multi-layer filter for various applications.

Inlet

Water Containing Particles

Pre-treated wastewater, raw water, or process water is pumped under pressure into the filter tank.

Deep Filtration

Retention in the filter bed

Suspended solids and colloidal particles are retained on the surface and within the filter material .

Backwash

Restore Filter Performance

As the differential pressure increases, the filter bed is backwashed manually or automatically to remove trapped solids.

Typical Applications of the ALMA FIL

  • Post-treatment of Industrial Wastewater Removal of residual suspended solids following biological, physicochemical, or sedimentation treatment stages.
  • Filtration After Precipitation and Flocculation Retention of fine flocs and residual solids, which were not completely removed during the preceding separation process.
  • Wastewater Containing Heavy Metals Separation of precipitated metal hydroxides and particle-bound heavy metals following a suitable chemical pretreatment.
  • Iron and Manganese Removal Filtration of oxidized iron and manganese compounds in the treatment of well water and drinking water.
  • Pre-treatment for Additional Water Treatment Systems Protection of downstream activated carbon filters, ion exchange systems, or membrane systems against particulate contamination.

Advantages of the Compact Filtration System

  • Custom Filter Media The filter medium, particle size, and layer structure are adapted to the water quality, particle spectrum, and cleaning objective.
  • Compact Pressure Vessel Design The system requires only a small footprint and can be easily integrated into existing technical areas;
  • FRP or stainless steel The tank material is selected based on water chemistry, corrosion requirements, and intended use.
  • Manual or Automatic Backwashing Smaller systems can be operated manually; larger systems can be cleaned automatically based on differential pressure.
  • Pre-assembled System Components Filters, piping, and fittings can be compactly integrated on a powder-coated rack .

Quartz sand

Proven filter media for separating suspended solids, flocs, and mineral particles.

Hydroanthracite

A lighter filter medium for multilayer filter beds and staged depth filtration.

Custom Configuration

The combination of materials and layer thicknesses are determined based on the water analysis and the desired filtrate quality .

2–100 m³/h Specified hydraulic performance range
0.15–10 m³ Specified filter size range
Manual or automatic Backflushing depends on the size and level of automation

Typical Integration into a Wastewater Treatment System

1. Pretreatment Biological treatment, neutralization, precipitation, flocculation, or sedimentation.
2. ALMA FIL Retention of remaining suspended solids, flocs, and colloidal particles.
3. Optional Post-Treatment Activated carbon, ion exchange, membrane filtration, or reverse osmosis.
4. Discharge or Reuse Discharge of the treated water or use as feedwater for further water reuse stages.
