Microfiltration and Ultrafiltration for Water Recycling and Membrane Pretreatment
The ALMA MEM MF/UF separates suspended solids, particles, and colloidal contaminants from the water via a defined membrane barrier. Depending on the application, the system is designed for microfiltration or ultrafiltration and can be equipped with organic or ceramic membranes. The filtrate can be reused directly or fed into a downstream reverse osmosis system.
Pre-treated water or wastewater
Depending on the application, process water, biologically treated wastewater, or water that has undergone chemical-physical pretreatment enters the membrane system.
Reliably trap particles
The water passes through the membrane as filtrate. Retained solids and colloidal components are removed from the system in the retentate or during backwashing.
A Steady Inflow for Further Processing
The filtered water can be used for operational applications or supplied as a steady feed to a reverse osmosis system.
Typical areas of application
- Pre-treatment for Reverse Osmosis Systems Reduction of particulate and colloidal contaminants prior to downstream membrane desalination.
- Water Reuse After a Wastewater Treatment Plant Further solids removal from biologically or chemically-physical treated wastewater.
- Process Water Treatment Production of a defined and reproducible water quality for industrial applications.
- Industrial Wastewater Treatment Separation of fine solids prior to discharge, reuse, or further treatment stages.
Customized to the water and operating conditions
- Organic Membranes For numerous standard applications with project-specific membrane material selection and appropriate separation threshold.
- Ceramic Membranes For demanding media and applications, where a particularly robust membrane system is required.
- Dead-End Operation The feed water is filtered through the membrane. The retained solids are removed through regular flushing and cleaning cycles.
- Cross-Flow Operation Tangential flow across the membrane supports the removal of retained substances and is designed on a project-specific basis.
Microfiltration
Suitable primarily for reliably removing suspended solids and larger particulate matter from the water.
Ultrafiltration
Suitable for further removal of fine particles and colloidal substances, as well as for demanding pretreatment prior to reverse osmosis.
