We are pleased to once again present our CP plant ALMA CHEM MCW batch plant . The plant was built for a waste management company and is used to treat liquid hazardous waste containing high concentrations of heavy metals and organic pollutants.

Challenges in the Treatment of Hazardous Waste
When treating industrial hazardous waste, operators often face the challenge of safely and reliably treating wastewater with complex compositions and highly variable constituents. In this project, the focus was particularly on the removal of high concentrations of:
Copper
Zinc
Nickel
Lead
chromium
Arsenic
In addition, hydrocarbons and AOX had to be reliably removed from the wastewater. Batch-type treatment systems are particularly well-suited for such applications, as they allow for flexible adaptation to varying wastewater compositions.

Plant design: Batch plant with high process flexibility
The completed system is based on our ALMA CHEM MCW-CP system, which was specifically developed for the treatment of complex industrial wastewater and hazardous waste.
The facility includes:
3 batch reactors, each with a volume of 20 m³
Stackable containers for temporary storage
Sludge thickener for sludge treatment
Lime silo with automatic discharge screw and metering system
Admixture station for lime milk for neutralization and sludge conditioning
Dosing stations for neutralizing agents, precipitants, and flocculants
Dosing stations for special additives from the ALMA AQUA product line
This combination allows the system to adapt flexibly to varying wastewater qualities and ensures reliable compliance with the required discharge standards.

Filtration and automatic backwashing
For the final solid separation, the system is equipped with multi-layer filters (ALMAFil) . These feature an automatic backwash system, including:
automatic changeover valves
Break-in and operating programs
Chemical Enhanced Backwash (CEB) for chemically assisted filter cleaning
This ensures consistently stable filtration performance and reliable system operation.
Automation and Plant Control
The entire system was engineered, programmed, and automated by ALMAWATECH. The control system enables easy operation of the batch processes and ensures the safe dosing of the required chemicals.

Proven technology for challenging wastewater
The successful commissioning once again demonstrates the capabilities of our ALMA Chem MCW batch systems for treating complex industrial wastewater and hazardous waste. Thanks to their high flexibility and robust process control, these systems are now being installed on a regular basis for waste management companies and industrial facilities.
