ALMAWATECH was once again present at the 11th VDI Conference on “Optimization of Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plants” , which took place on March 17 and 18 in Gelsenkirchen. Organized by VDI Wissensforum, the event is one of the most important trade conferences for operators, planners, plant manufacturers, and industrial companies in the field of industrial wastewater treatment.
Once again, the conference offered a highly successful mix of practical case studies from industry, the latest research findings, and regulatory developments. The direct exchange between operators, engineering firms, government agencies, and technology providers was particularly valuable. Among the key topics at this year’s event were:
New legal developments for industrial wastewater treatment plants
Optimization of biological and physical wastewater treatment
Water reuse and nutrient recovery
Improving the energy efficiency of systems
Digitalization in the Operation of Wastewater Treatment Plants
Practical experience from various industries

A highlight of the program was the technical presentation by our colleague Frank Kuntze (B.S. in Engineering), Sales Manager ALMA AQUA and Senior Expert for Cooling Water Treatment.
Under the title
“Water Reuse at Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plants – From Project Concept to Recycling Facility”
He presented key aspects of successful water recycling projects. Using practical examples, the presentation highlighted the technical and economic factors that are crucial for the successful implementation of water recycling.
Among other things, the focus was on:
the collection of baseline data and key planning parameters for water recycling projects
The importance of the right combination of processes for stable plant designs
Economic aspects and operational concepts for sustainable water reuse
Practical examples from completed industrial projects
Against the backdrop of growing demands for resource efficiency and sustainable production processes, the issue of water reuse in industry is becoming increasingly important.
Valuable dialogue with the industry
In addition to the technical presentations, the conference offered numerous opportunities for personal interaction with experts from industry, planning, and research. The discussions on new processes, operational optimization, and regulatory developments demonstrated once again how dynamically the field of industrial wastewater treatment continues to evolve.
We would like to thank the VDI Knowledge Forum for organizing this successful event, as well as to all participants for the interesting discussions and professional exchange.
ALMAWATECH is already looking forward to the upcoming events and to continuing to actively contribute to the exchange of knowledge and practical experience within the industry.
