Task
Construction of a test facility for wastewater treatment with a variety of treatment processes. Particular attention was paid to the flexible application of the processes in order to investigate various research aspects using different methods. The plant also had to be realized in a technical room container to save space.

Solution & implementation
Our state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant starts with efficient coarse filtration and then feeds the wastewater into the storage tank, where sediments such as sludge and sand are separated. In the biological section(ALMA BIO MBR), controllable aeration units and agitators ensure homogeneous mixing, which enables flexible biological tests.
After this step, the wastewater passes through a sedimentation tank for sludge separation. The settled sludge can either be recirculated or disposed of. An alternative route leads the water into a UF module in which the sludge is separated by a UF membrane(ALMA UF). A granulated activated carbon filter (ALMA FIL AK) ensures effective purification, while additional ozonation mixes in generated ozone. After ozone treatment, the purified water can be recirculated.
Our mixing and settling reactor can be used in a variety of ways, both as a MAP and PAH reactor. A dosing solution of activated carbon or magnesium powder is added to the wastewater before the clear water is separated. The Fenton reactor can be operated both as a batch and as a continuous reactor and contains all the necessary equipment for adding the appropriate chemicals(ALMA OXI Fenton).
UV oxidation is supported by the addition of hydrogen peroxide before the treated water is effectively treated with UV light. This can be recirculated in the system to ensure optimal UV treatment(ALMA OXI UV). Our system offers a variety of options for customization to meet your research requirements, including trace substance elimination and more.
