Solution & implementation
The production of ultrapure water is a complex process that requires robust equipment and control systems. Below, we present our ALMA OSMO VE system for producing deionized water. In addition, ultrapure water is produced from the deionized water through further treatment.
Softening of the feed water: First, the feed water is softened using ion exchange resins. This removes dissolved iron, calcium, and magnesium cations to prevent scaling on the membranes of our reverse osmosis system and ensure smooth operation.
Reverse osmosis system (RO system): The softened water then passes through our reverse osmosis system. Here, dissolved ions and residual compounds are removed from the water to ensure a high level of purity.
UV Treatment: The next step involves UV treatment for disinfection. The UV systems are installed in the various deionized water storage tanks and eliminate bacteria and other microorganisms to meet the highest purity and safety standards.
Mixed-bed filtration: Finally, the deionized water is passed through our regenerable mixed-bed filters (ALMA ION). The high-quality ion-exchange resins reliably remove the last traces of dissolved substances. When the resin is exhausted, the conductivity-controlled regeneration process is initiated. To ensure uninterrupted operation, two mixed-bed filters are installed and operated in parallel.
