Since July 2025, we have welcomed Ms. Lea Ullrich as a technical intern at ALMAWATECH. Lea is studying process and environmental engineering at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and is joining our team as part of a compulsory internship lasting several weeks - with the aim of deepening her theoretical knowledge in concrete practical applications.

As a budding engineer, Lea is gaining a comprehensive insight into modern industrial water and wastewater treatment. Her tasks range from piloting technical processes and process engineering design to working on the 3D planning of complex plants.

Support with piloting and process engineering trials

A particular focus of her internship will be on carrying out and supervising process engineering pilot tests - both on the road at customer sites and in our technical center in Babenhausen.

Among other things, it is involved in

  • the piloting of our dissolved air flotation ALMA NeoDAF
  • the implementation and evaluation of physical-chemical pre-treatments (e.g. precipitation and flocculation)
  • Test runs with biological processes, e.g. aerobic or anaerobic
  • the assessment of different types of wastewater and the selection of suitable processes

From theory to practice: design & planning of water treatment plants

In addition to the practical tests, Lea also accompanies key steps in system planning. These include, among other things:

  • carrying out process engineering calculations (e.g. reactor volumes, precipitant dosing, hydraulic loads)
  • Collaboration on flow diagrams and piping & instrumentation diagrams
  • the development of technical layouts and 3D models for our design department
  • the selection, dimensioning and optimization of process engineering components

Technical internship with relevance

By working closely with our engineering team and process technology, Lea gains a realistic insight into the project business of a plant manufacturer - from the initial test approaches to the actual implementation of customer-specific water treatment systems.

We are very pleased to have Lea in our team and are convinced that she will gain valuable experience that will accompany her on her further path as an engineer.
