Solution & implementation
Our holistic wastewater treatment process comprises the following key steps:
1. mechanical pre-treatment: In the first step, the wastewater passes through coarse and fine screening to remove coarse impurities. An aerated sand trap is then installed to efficiently separate fats and oils from the wastewater.
2. biological treatment and post-treatment: The second stage involves biological wastewater treatment with nitrification, denitrification and biological phosphorus elimination using our ALMA BHU BIO technology. Floating substances and the remaining biomass settle in the final clarifier.
3. biogas production / sludge treatment: The sludge produced in the process is collected separately in a sludge thickener and then fermented in two biogas reactors using our ALMA BHU GMR technology. The biogas produced is then purified through a biological gas desulphurization process and converted into electricity and heat using a combined heat and power unit (CHP).
