Task

ALMA Chem MCW for the precipitation and flocculation of heavy metals, hydrocarbons, and AOX

For the Bargeshagen location of REMONDIS Industrie Service GmbH , ALMAWATECH implemented a custom-designed chemical-physical wastewater treatment plant (CP plant) of the ALMA Chem MCW for the treatment of liquid hazardous waste.

The plant was specifically designed for the safe and cost-effective treatment of industrial wastewater with varying levels of contamination and has a treatment capacity of 60 m³ of wastewater per day.

Customized Solutions for Challenging Industrial Wastewater

Liquid hazardous waste often has highly variable compositions and contains a wide variety of pollutants. The plant’s objective is the reliable removal of:

  • Heavy metals

  • Hydrocarbons

  • AOX (adsorbable organically bound halogens)

  • substances that can be filtered out

  • other chemically precipitable ingredients

A multi-stage chemical-physical treatment using a coordinated precipitation and flocculation process.

System Design

The ALMAWATECH-developed ALMA Chem MCW includes all process engineering components required for automated batch operation.

The package includes, among other things:

  • 5 storage tanks with built-in vibrating screens for the preliminary separation of coarse solids

  • 4 batch reactors for chemical-physical treatment

  • Feed pump stations for automated feeding of the plant

  • Complete measurement, control, and regulation technology (MSR)

  • Switchgear, including electrical wiring

  • Container and piping systems made entirely of PE for high chemical resistance

Batch operation allows for flexible adaptation to changing wastewater compositions and ensures reliable process control even with challenging industrial wastewater.

Chemical-Physical Wastewater Treatment with ALMA Chem MCW

The ALMA Chem MCW was developed specifically for industrial applications where conventional biological processes reach their limits due to high concentrations of pollutants or widely fluctuating wastewater quality.

Through precise dosing of process chemicals and a tailored precipitation and flocculation strategy, dissolved pollutants are converted into separable solids. This allows for the efficient removal of heavy metals, AOX, and hydrocarbons from the wastewater in particular, thereby reducing the load on subsequent treatment stages.
