Task
The facility treats wastewater generated from the disposal of hazardous waste. This wastewater is contaminated with high concentrations of heavy metals (copper, zinc, nickel, lead, chromium, arsenic) as well as hydrocarbons and AOX.
The goal was to build our ALMA CHEM MCW treatment plant (precipitation and flocculation) as a batch system in order to reliably meet the required limits.

Solution & implementation
Our CP plant is based on the process of precipitation, neutralization, and flocculation, supplemented by a special sulfide treatment to ensure the removal of heavy metals.
The ALMA CHEM MCW (CP system) enables reliable treatment of heavily contaminated wastewater, particularly wastewater containing heavy metals such as copper, zinc, nickel, lead, chromium, and arsenic, as well as hydrocarbons and AOX.
The three reactors at the CP plant are equipped with variable-frequency-driven agitators, radar probes for continuous level measurement, and metering valves. A centrally located control platform provides optimal access to all plant components for operation and maintenance.
An integrated sludge thickener (20 m³) efficiently reduces the sludge volume. Two ALMA FIL multi-layer filters (Ø 1.2 m) operating in parallel are used for post-treatment. These are controlled by pneumatic valves and automatically regenerated by a CEB backwash station.
The CP system is controlled via an in-house developed, fail-safe control panel featuring a 19-inch touch panel and ALMA Control software, which enables fully automated and monitored process control.

Process additives used
The ALMA AQUA wastewater product series is used, which has been specifically developed for the respective applications and industries. These products can also be custom-formulated as needed to ensure maximum efficiency and operational reliability of the system.
