Badische Stahlwerke has been a major manufacturer of high-quality steel products based in Kehl for more than five decades. Their extensive product portfolio includes reinforcing steel in bar and ring form, wire rod, continuous cast billets and reinforcement products. With a dedicated workforce of over 850 employees, they achieve an annual production capacity of an impressive 2,000,000 tons of their first-class steel products.
In 2022, ALMAWTECH was awarded the contract to pre-treat the wastewater from slag processing in order to relieve the existing sand filters. This strategic decision underlines Badische Stahlwerke's efforts to minimize its environmental impact while optimizing its production processes.
Design data
The wastewater to be treated is characterized by a considerable proportion of solids and an extremely high metal and oil content. The wastewater plant is intended to relieve the existing sand filtration system.

Solution & implementation
In order to efficiently tackle the challenge of treating small but highly fluctuating volumes of wastewater, we decided to implement a compact CP system with a belt filter for sludge dewatering - the ALMA CP Compact. This innovative solution is complemented by a precise powder dosing station that ensures exact dosing.
Our solid combination product, consisting of precipitation, flocculation, neutralization and reaction release agents, is called ALMA FLOC MWP. These high-quality chemicals are tailor-made to effectively meet the specific requirements of your wastewater treatment.
