Task

Construction of a biogas plant for the sludge utilization of a municipal sewage treatment plant with an energy production of 2,000 kWh/d in Slovenia.

Design data

system performance:

  • Volume of biogas plant: 2 x 1,400 m³
  • Capacity of the biogas tanks: 660 m³
  • Electrical output of the combined heat and power unit (CHP): 330 kW
  • Average daily energy production: 2,000 kWh/d

Target parameters:

  • Biogas plant and CHP should provide at least 100 % of the energy requirement of the sludge line and approx. 40 % of the overall plant.

Solution & implementation

We have successfully implemented a state-of-the-art biogas plant comprising two digestion towers(ALMA BHU GMR) operating in parallel. These digesters are supplied with the sewage sludge produced by the local municipal sewage treatment plant.

We have integrated a biogas storage system to ensure a constant supply for our combined heat and power plants and to compensate for fluctuations in biogas production.
