2024 was a successful year for ALMAWATECH. We would like to thank all our customers, suppliers and partners. Without dedicated employees, it would not have been possible to successfully overcome the various challenges and achieve a significant increase in sales, both in plant construction and in the area of services.

Last year, ALMAWATECH celebrated 25 years since the company was founded. We did not use this anniversary for big celebrations, but to concentrate on the market and the product:

In March 2024, we founded an ALMAWATECH subsidiary in Linz, Austria. In this context and the further expansion of the company, young engineers have joined us, enriching and strengthening our skills.

This expansion will enable us to strengthen our presence in the Austrian market and further expand our customer proximity in the region.

Merger with BHU

Another strategic milestone was the merger with BHU, which will remain an independent product brand in Leonberg. BHU focuses on the treatment of large volumes of water and wastewater from 100 to 3,000 m³/h and has proven itself in the sugar industry, paper industry and refineries in particular.

Successful participation in IFAT 2024

IFAT 2024 was a great success for our company. We had the opportunity to present our latest technologies and solutions, make numerous new contacts and deepen existing partnerships. Many thanks to everyone who visited us!

25th anniversary

This year also marked our 25th anniversary - a quarter of a century of innovations, challenges and successes in water and wastewater treatment. We are proud of what we have achieved and thank everyone who has been part of this journey.

Research & Development

Together with the University of Stuttgart and other partners, we launched the ZUMISPEK research project to develop a biotechnological reactor system for biological wastewater treatment.

The AktivFlock process, a combination for the elimination of micropollutants based on the Fenton process, was patented in August.

In the fall of this year, we launched a large-scale research project at our ALMA Aqua Wasserchemie division with the aim of developing sustainable, preferably bio-based treatment agents with system-integrated control processes. We have significantly increased our research budget for this. We are currently conducting several at the same time.

Our development department ALMA AQUA in Essen has developed a range of new and high-quality products, in particular a corrosion protection inhibitor for cooling water from plastics processing.

Reinforcement of our team

This year, we welcomed 10 new employees to our headquarters in Babenhausen, our branch in Linz, the BHU product brand in Leonberg and our ALMA AQUA competence center in Essen. They support us with their expertise in project management, in our technical center, in research projects and in supporting our customers in the application of operating fluids in cooling water treatment, in boiler plants and in membrane plants. They also strengthen our team in the areas of programming and control cabinet planning. We are delighted to be enriched by their skills and commitment.

Successful installations in various industries

We built a high-quality, multi-stage membrane filter system for the removal of PFAS for an international chemical company.

We built an ALMA Chem MCW (chemical-physical treatment plant) for hazardous waste for the Remondis Group in eastern Germany. Further plants for this customer are under construction.

In the dairy and food industry, we commissioned systems for Vogtlandmilch, Dairyfood and Eisbär Eis.

At the Südzucker Group, the ramp-up of our BHU GMR anaerobic reactor began at the Kassel plant. Another biological wastewater treatment plant is to be delivered to a Südzucker subsidiary in Chile. Systems for tertiary wastewater treatment and river water treatment from Leonberg also went to Poland.

We were also able to successfully install further water treatment systems in the following sectors:

  • Sugar industry
  • Waste management
  • Dairies
  • Medical technology
  • Ice cream production
  • Functional material production
  • Wafer production
  • Milk processing
  • Production of cleaning agents and cosmetics
  • Pharmaceutical industry
  • Cold rolling mills

Our systems make an important contribution to efficient and sustainable water and wastewater treatment in these areas.

Sustainability

In 2024, ALMAWATECH began preparing a sustainability report and developing its products in greater depth with regard to sustainability, with a particular focus not only on system performance, but also on the consumption of system operation and construction. ALMA modular systems, which do not require the construction of buildings, are a step forward in this respect. Systems of this type have been supplied to a medical technology company in Fulda, for example.
